Heritage Toronto – 2019 William Greer Built Heritage Award
The award honours outstanding achievements in conservation, craftsmanship, and adaptive reuse, and projects of any scale.
The project consisted of the conversion, restoration, reconstruction of two buildings that used to form part of the City of Toronto’s waste management program. The buildings remained derelict and unmaintained for a number of years prior to the redevelopment. The scope of work included:
- Complete interior demolition, including abatement
- Sandblasting
- Interior and exterior restoration, including masonry, concrete and associated works
- Structural infill work of the floors, including staircases
- New elevator shafts and equipment
- Complete building envelope including roof, windows and associated works
- New mechanical and electrical systems and distribution and lighting
- New sprinkler systems
- Common area works and Interior fit ups for an event space and brewery
- Site works, including new site servicing, water retention tanks, concrete, asphalt and landscaping
